A 5-Minute Bible Study Routine for Women Who Don't Have Time to Study the Bible
You want to be in the Word. You really do. But between the school drop-off, the inbox, the dinner you haven't planned, and the ten other people who need something from you before 9am, "study the Bible" can feel like one more thing you're failing at before the day even starts.
Here's the truth nobody says loudly enough: God doesn't need an hour. He meets you in five minutes just as fully as he meets you in fifty. The goal was never the length of the sit-down. It was showing up.
Why "not enough time" isn't the real problem
Most women searching for a women's bible study guide aren't actually short on five minutes — they're short on a plan for what to do with them. Without structure, five minutes turns into scrolling, or staring at an open Bible not knowing where to land, or skipping it altogether because "I'll do a real study later." Later rarely comes.
I talked about this exact tension on Season 3 of the Joyful Purpose podcast, in an episode called "Well Done in the Quiet." So much of faithfulness happens in the small, unwitnessed minutes — not the dramatic ones. A five-minute habit, done daily, will shape you more than an hour-long study you do twice and abandon.
A simple 5-minute rhythm you can actually keep
Minute 1 — Land. One breath, one sentence: "Lord, I'm here." You're not trying to arrive spiritually impressive. You're just showing up.
Minutes 2–3 — Read one small passage. Not a chapter. A few verses. Short enough that you can actually sit with it instead of skimming to finish.
Minute 4 — Ask one question. What does this tell me about who God is? Or what does this ask of me today? Pick one, not both.
Minute 5 — Carry one line. Write down or say aloud one phrase from what you read. That's the piece you take into the rest of your day — the school pickup, the meeting, the load of laundry.
Five minutes, five moves. No guilt if some days it's three minutes and no journal. Consistency beats length every time.
You don't have to build this from scratch
Here's what I've found after years of trying to do this on my own: the hardest part of a 5-minute habit isn't the five minutes. It's deciding, every single day, what to read and what to ask. That daily decision fatigue is what actually kills the habit — not busyness.
That's exactly why I built the Scripture and Devotional Studio inside the Member Library — the daily study is already laid out for you. No decision fatigue, no blank page, no wondering where to start. Just open it and go. You'll also get access to devotionals like God's Assignment for You and the Joyful Living Journal, built the same way: short, honest, doable on your hardest days.
You don't need more time. You need a place that's already done the deciding for you.
