Crossing the Red Sea – Trusting God in the Impossible
Trapped Between the Enemy and the Sea
The Israelites had just escaped Egypt, but their journey to freedom seemed short-lived. Ahead of them stretched the vast, impassable Red Sea. Behind them, Pharaoh's army closed in—chariots thundering, soldiers marching, and fear rising.
Panic set in, and the people cried out to Moses:
“Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die?”
(Exodus 14:11)
In that moment of desperation, God spoke through Moses:
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
(Exodus 14:14)
A Miraculous Way Forward
God commanded Moses to stretch out his hand over the sea. As he did, a strong wind began to blow, and the waters parted. The Israelites crossed on dry ground, walls of water standing on either side.
What seemed impossible became reality because God made a way. The Egyptians pursued, but as the last Israelite set foot on the far shore, the waters rushed back, swallowing the enemy.
When Life Feels Overwhelming
There are moments when we, too, feel trapped—surrounded by challenges on every side. It’s easy to panic or doubt. But just as God made a way through the sea, He can create a path through our struggles.
When fear tells you there’s no way out, remember that God is the Way Maker.
When life feels overwhelming, be still and trust that God is fighting for you.
When you’re tempted to go back, press forward and watch God’s power unfold.
A God Who Fights for Us
God didn’t just rescue the Israelites from slavery—He fought for them, protected them, and led them to freedom. The Red Sea crossing wasn’t just a dramatic miracle; it was a declaration that God is faithful to His promises.
When you feel stuck, remember that God doesn’t abandon His people. He is with you, leading you through the impossible.
A Prayer for Today
Lord, when I feel trapped and overwhelmed, remind me that You are the Way Maker. Help me to trust You when I can’t see a way forward. Thank You for fighting for me and leading me to freedom. Amen.
