Finding Strength in Surrender
Letting go is hard. We like control—we want to plan, predict, and hold on tightly to the things we love. But the journey of faith is one of surrender, of loosening our grip and trusting that God’s hands are stronger than our own.
Surrender doesn’t mean giving up. It means choosing to believe that God’s plans are higher, His ways are wiser, and His timing is perfect.
Why Is Surrender So Hard?
We resist surrender because:
We fear the unknown.
We struggle to trust what we can’t see.
We believe we have to hold everything together.
But the truth is, we were never meant to carry it all. Jesus invites us to exchange our burdens for His peace:
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." – Matthew 11:28
Surrender Brings Strength, Not Weakness
When we let go, we make room for God’s power to work. Look at Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane—He surrendered to the Father’s will, and that surrender led to victory.
Paul reminds us:
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9
True strength is found in trusting God, even when we don’t understand.
How to Surrender Daily
Pray with open hands – Physically open your hands as you pray, symbolizing your willingness to let go.
Release control – Identify what you're holding onto and give it to God.
Trust the process – God’s plan unfolds in His time, not ours.
Find peace in His promises – Remind yourself that God is good and His plans are for your good (Jeremiah 29:11).
Let Go and Let God
Whatever you’re holding onto today—worries, dreams, expectations—lay them at His feet. Surrender isn’t the end; it’s the beginning of peace, freedom, and a deeper walk with Him.
A Prayer for Today:
Lord, I release my plans, my worries, and my fears into Your hands. Help me to trust You completely, knowing that You are always in control. Teach me to surrender daily and rest in Your perfect plan. Amen.
