How My Kids’ Questions Led Me to Create Christian Books, Gifts, and a Faith-Based Family Brand

It didn’t start with a business plan.
It started with questions.

The kind of questions kids ask when they’re trying to understand the world—and God—in the same breath.

“Why does God let hard things happen?”
“Will I be brave enough?”
“Does God stay with us when things change?”

As a mom, those questions stopped me in my tracks.

Because they weren’t just questions.
They were invitations.

Invitations to slow down, to lean in, and to guide my children not just with answers—but with truth rooted in faith.

Where the Stories Began

At the time, our life was full—beautiful, but full.

We were navigating work, school, and everything in between. And then came a big shift: we moved to a new state.

New home.
New school.
New environment.

And with that came new fears, new emotions, and even more questions from my kids.

As a multicultural family—blending Indian and Japanese heritage while raising our children in America—there was already a layer of identity, belonging, and confidence we were constantly navigating.

Now, everything felt even more stretched.

I wanted my kids to feel grounded.
Not in comfort. Not in familiarity.

But in something unshakable.

Writing What I Couldn’t Find

So I started looking for books.

Stories that could help my kids understand courage, faith, identity, and God’s presence in everyday life.

And again, I ran into the same problem.

I couldn’t find what I was looking for.

Not stories that reflected our life.
Not stories that felt simple, real, and rooted in faith without being overwhelming.

So I did something I never planned to do.

I started writing.

From Conversations to Christian Children’s Books

The stories of Hiro, Lani, and Wazi were born from real moments in our home.

From first days at school.
From sharing food that felt “different.”
From learning how to be brave when everything feels unfamiliar.

These weren’t just stories.

They were answers.

Answers to my kids’ questions—written in a way they could understand, remember, and carry with them.

That’s how my journey into Christian children’s books began.

Not as an author first.
But as a mom trying to point her kids back to God.

The Message Grew Bigger

As I shared these stories, something unexpected happened.

Other families started connecting.

Parents were looking for the same things:

  • meaningful Christian books for kids

  • ways to teach faith in everyday life

  • simple, relatable stories rooted in truth

And I realized this wasn’t just about our family anymore.

Starting the Podcast: Sharing Real Faith Conversations

That’s what led me to start my podcast.

A space to talk about faith in real life—not the polished version, but the honest one.

The kind of conversations we all have:

  • navigating work and motherhood

  • trusting God in uncertainty

  • finding purpose in the middle of everyday responsibilities

The podcast became an extension of the same heart behind the books.

Faith that is lived.
Faith that is practical.
Faith that shows up in the middle of real life.

Why I Created Christian Gifts for Kids and Families

As the journey continued, I saw another gap.

Even when we had the right conversations and stories…
there weren’t many simple, meaningful ways to keep God’s word present daily.

I kept coming back to the same thought:

What can I give my kids—and others—that carries truth beyond the moment?

That’s when I started creating:

  • Bible verse cards for kids

  • scripture cards

  • small faith-based gifts for families

Not just as products.

But as reminders.

Something a child could hold.
Something a parent could share.
Something that could quietly plant seeds of faith.

Building Hope, Light & Wonder

What started with questions grew into something much bigger.

Hope, Light & Wonder became a place where all of it could come together:

  • Christian children’s books

  • faith-based gifts for kids and families

  • conversations through the podcast

  • and a community centered on God’s truth

Not perfect.
Not polished.

But intentional.

If You’re Here…

Maybe you’re here because you’ve had the same questions in your home.

Maybe you’re looking for:

  • Christian gifts for kids

  • meaningful ways to teach your children about faith

  • simple tools to bring God into everyday life

Or maybe you just want to raise kids who know who they are—and whose they are.

If that’s you, I see you.

Because this whole journey started in that exact place.

The Heart Behind It All

This didn’t begin with a plan.

It began with listening.

To my kids.
To their questions.
And ultimately—to God.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

When we lean into those small, everyday moments…
God can turn them into something far greater than we ever imagined.
