The Beginning of Everything – God's Purpose in Creation
In the beginning, God…
Before there was time, before there was light, before a single star sparkled in the night sky—God was there.
Genesis 1:1 opens the Bible with a bold, unwavering truth:
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
From the vast galaxies to the smallest details of nature, everything we see was intentionally spoken into existence by our Creator. Nothing was random. Nothing was accidental.
And at the height of His creation, God made us.
We Are Created with Purpose
Genesis 1:27 tells us,
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Pause for a moment and let that sink in. You were created in the image of God. Not just as an afterthought. Not as a mistake. But with intentionality and love.
In a world that constantly tells us we need to prove our worth, Genesis reminds us that our worth was established at creation. We don’t have to chase it. We don’t have to earn it. We are already loved, chosen, and designed for a purpose.
God Saw That It Was Good
After each day of creation, God stepped back, looked at what He had made, and called it good.
On the sixth day, after creating humans, He called it very good (Genesis 1:31).
God didn’t just create the world and leave it to spin on its own. He placed His goodness within creation. He placed His image in us.
And yet, how often do we look in the mirror and believe the lie that we are not enough?
If the Creator of the universe calls His creation good, shouldn’t we trust His words over our own doubts?
Living in the Confidence of His Design
God didn’t just create us and leave us to figure things out on our own. He placed purpose inside each of us.
You are created to reflect His light.
You are created to bring beauty and goodness to the world.
You are created to walk with Him in relationship.
When we embrace this truth, we can step forward in confidence, knowing that we belong to Him.
A Prayer for Today
Father, thank You for creating me with purpose. When I doubt my worth, remind me that I am made in Your image. Help me see myself the way You see me—loved, chosen, and deeply valued. May my life reflect the goodness of Your creation. Amen.
