Isaiah 66:4 and Daniel – The Warning and the Witness

As always, I begin with a humble note: I’m not a theologian or a dream interpreter. I’m a listener. A journaler. A woman who believes that sometimes God speaks in dreams, and when He does, it’s worth paying attention. This post is simply a reflection—offered with reverence and wonder.

💤 The Dream

This dream came with clarity: Isaiah 66:4 appeared in my mind like a divine alert. And then… the image of Daniel, calm and strong, praying at his open window.

It felt like a split-screen—warning on one side, faithfulness on the other. Like God was showing me two paths, two responses, two kinds of hearts.

And mine needed to choose.

🔍 What the Bible Says

Let’s start with Isaiah 66:4:

“So I also will choose harsh treatment for them
and will bring upon them what they dread.
For when I called, no one answered,
when I spoke, no one listened.
They did evil in my sight
and chose what displeases me.”

This verse is God speaking about His people who refused to listen—who turned their worship into performance and rejected His presence in favor of their own way.

It’s a sobering verse—a mirror to the soul.

And then… Daniel.

Daniel was:

  • Faithful in exile

  • Prayerful in private

  • Bold in public

  • Unmoved by culture, unbending in devotion

In Daniel 6, even under threat of death, he opened his window and prayed—just like he always had.

Where Isaiah 66:4 describes people who turned away, Daniel represents a man who turned toward.

💡 What God Showed Me

This dream felt like a line in the sand. Not of fear, but of clarity.

God was showing me:

“You’re in a time where listening matters.
Where obedience is not optional.
Where compromise may be normal, but faithfulness is powerful.”

The image of Daniel was not just admiration—it was invitation.

To be the one who prays when no one’s watching.
To be the one who listens when others are dismissing.
To be the one who lives surrendered, even when culture says “just blend in.”

🕊️ Devotional Thought

“But Daniel resolved not to defile himself…” – Daniel 1:8
“When I called, no one answered…” – Isaiah 66:4

The contrast is striking. One heart resolves. The other resists.

And the Lord in His mercy is still calling.
Not to condemn—but to bring us back to true worship, true listening, and unshakable identity in Him.

Reflection Questions:

  • Are there places where I’ve “tuned out” God's voice, even slightly?

  • What does it look like to live with Daniel-like resolve in this season?

  • Have I been delaying obedience when God is asking for surrender?

Closing

We’re all living between Isaiah 66:4 and Daniel 6.

Some ignore the call. Others open the window and kneel.

Today, God is still speaking. Still calling. Still looking for those who will say,

“Here I am, Lord. I will listen. I will follow. I will not blend in.”

Let’s be Daniel. Even in Babylon.
