Sourdough Crumpets (Bubbly, Toasty, and Butter-Ready) 🧈🥞

Why This Recipe?

Because those iconic holes are the perfect butter-and-honey traps. These crumpets are soft, slightly chewy, and golden-crisp on the bottom. The sourdough gives them a tangy depth that store-bought could never dream of.

🛠️ Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sourdough starter or discard

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 3/4 cup warm water

⚡️ Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients until smooth. Let rest for 30–60 mins.

  2. Grease crumpet rings or mason jar lids and heat a pan on medium-low.

  3. Pour batter into rings (about halfway up). Cook 8–10 minutes until bubbly.

  4. Flip and cook 2 more minutes for golden tops.

  5. Serve toasted with butter, jam, or a good drizzle of honey.

🔥 Bonus Tips:

✔ No rings? Use thick metal cookie cutters.
✔ Add a pinch of sugar for a sweet version.
✔ Freeze and toast straight from the freezer!
