Rahab’s Faith – Salvation Behind the Scarlet Cord
Key Verse:
“Tie this scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down… and all who are in your house with you will be spared.” – Joshua 2:18
The Setting
Before Jericho fell, Joshua sent two spies into the city. They were hidden by an unlikely ally—Rahab, a prostitute. She had heard of Israel’s God, the One who parted seas and defeated kings, and she chose to align herself with Him.
She hung a scarlet cord in her window as a sign. When Jericho’s walls fell, her household was spared.
The Deeper Lesson
Rahab’s story shows us that faith is not about your past—it’s about who you trust today. God took a woman on the margins and grafted her into the lineage of Jesus. Her courage and trust gave her a new story.
The scarlet cord reminds us of the blood of Christ—our sign of salvation. Just as Rahab’s house was covered, so are we.
The Purpose
The purpose of this story is to show that no one is too far for God’s mercy. Faith, even a small act of trust, opens the door to redemption.
Prayer for Today
Lord, thank You that my past does not define my future. Thank You for the scarlet cord of Christ’s blood that covers me and makes me new. Give me courage to put my trust in You today, just as Rahab did. Amen.
