Sourdough Chocolate Babka (Rich, Decadent Bread) 🍫🍞

Why This Recipe?

Imagine soft, pillowy sourdough bread swirled with rich, gooey chocolate—a combination that’s dangerously delicious! The sourdough gives the babka a complex flavor and amazing texture.

🛠️ Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sourdough starter (fed and bubbly)

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 tsp salt

For the Chocolate Filling:

  • 1 cup chocolate chips

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

⚡️ Instructions:

1️⃣ Make the Dough: Mix starter, flour, sugar, milk, eggs, butter, and salt. Knead until smooth. Let rise overnight.
2️⃣ Prepare Filling: Melt chocolate chips, cocoa powder, sugar, butter, and vanilla.
3️⃣ Roll & Fill: Roll dough into a rectangle, spread filling, and roll up.
4️⃣ Shape & Proof: Twist the roll into a braid and place in a loaf pan. Proof for 2 hours.
5️⃣ Bake & Enjoy: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes.
